The first Student Council of the Tobago Hospitality & Tourism Institute was elected and inaugurated in November 2008. With the posts of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Activities Co-ordinator and Part Time Students Representative, the council is governed by a formal constitution and due process and is guided by the Institute’s Student Counsellor.

Mission & Activities

The Council’s mission is to ‘To assist each other, while we prepare for our future and achieve our academic goals thru a holistic, supportive framework, using various forms of technology and proven paths that aim to ensure success’. With this focus on holistic excellence, the council designs and co-ordinates regular extra-curricular activities for the student body, such as Movie Nights and the end of semester ‘Brain Cooler Bash’.

The Institute had provided the council with a well furnished office and lounge area (Student Activity Centre), in which to efficiently conduct its necessary business. They also have the logistical support and backing of the administration in carrying out their fund raising and social agendas. In addition, the council serves to co-ordinate the student body’s support of Institute activities such as recruitment, function hosting, patronage of restaurant dinners and marketing of special events.
